read in a book "Woman in the Balkans"written by Will Gordon in 1918, an interesting fact about Montenegrin men. Because foreign peoples often encroached on these beautiful lands, men in Montenegro have always been exclusively engaged in military affairs. And their wives and daughters at that time did all the housework.
So now, - the author writes, - men mostly loiter around (waiting for the time when their hour finally comes and they go to fight for their homeland), and women raise children and do all the hard work around the house. To my surprise, I found that nothing has changed since the writing of this book! Of course, on the coast you will not notice this, because there are many tourists and immigrants from other countries; however, if you go inland, then there this picture will appear in all its glory. If you are lucky (and this is for sure), then you will see a group of men, imposingly seated at the local canoba and surveying the people passing by; some of them just read the newspaper (2-3 hours), others play chess. You will not see women in their company. Apparently, the fair sex at this moment fulfills its marital (or child) duty with joy and enthusiasm, putting all the housework on its fragile, but time-tested shoulders 🙂
